SUMMER 1 TUTOR HIRING NOTICE: Hiring for the Summer 1 semester has been PAUSED. Knack continues to hire and onboard new tutors on the platform, but NO tutors who complete Knack Basic Tutor Training after April 25th, 2025 will be able to complete tutoring appointments until hiring resumes. If you are a new tutor on Knack, please temporarily disable your courses until we resume hiring. All qualified new tutors who have joined the Knack platform will still be welcomed to our program this semester and encouraged to tutor with us in the future.   • FINA 2201 & FINA 2209 Financial Management
  • MATH 1231 Calculus for Business and Economics
  • MGSC 2301 Business Statistics
  • MKTG 2201 Introduction to Marketing
  • PSYC 1101 Foundations of Psychology

If you are already a Peer Tutor on Knack, take these steps to keep your profile active through the summer:

  • Submit an updated (unofficial) transcript to Knack to tutor recently completed courses
  • Activate all supported courses you tutor

Certain BIOL, CHEM, MATH, and PHYS courses not offered on Knack during Summer 1 will be supported by the COS Tutoring Center and the COE Tutoring Program. Please submit an application to tutor for these programs by contacting them via the information found on their websites. If you are working toward CRLA certification, sessions and hours tutored through COS or COE will be counted toward your requirements.

Peer-to-peer tutoring on the Knack platform is an additional resource for students and should be treated as such. Tutors should encourage their tutees to explore all available academic resources across the Northeastern global network. Please review our page on Other Tutoring Services at Northeastern.

Northeastern Peer Tutoring is committed to offering free peer tutoring to aid Northeastern undergraduate students’ academic success through the support of their Northeastern peers. This academic year 2025, we are refocusing our peer tutoring program to support all eligible 1st year undergraduate students as well as students enrolled in high demand courses across the Northeastern global network.

On Knack, eligible students will have the opportunity to:

  • Schedule peer-to-peer tutoring sessions on the Knack platform either as an one-on-one or small group in-person or online , for up to 90 minutes per course per week (Sunday-Saturday)
  • Use up to 30 hours maximum of free peer tutoring during each academic semester, and up to 15 hours of peer tutoring during each summer session

Tutoring on Knack

All Northeastern peer tutors on Knack work as 1099 contractors. However, we have classified this part-time position as an on-campus job in order for our Northeastern international undergraduate students to take advantage of this student employment opportunity. Peer Tutors can work up to 15 hours per week maximum (Sunday to Saturday) on the Knack platform. Knack shares with us and Student Employment the list of all the Northeastern peer tutors on the Knack platform including their work hours on a weekly basis. Qualified current Northeastern undergraduate students interested in applying to become Northeastern peer tutors on the Knack platform as well as returning peer tutors need to review the Northeastern Peer Tutoring processes outlined in this website under “Become a Tutor” in the Application and Hiring Process before applying on the Knack platform at northeastern.joinknack.com. Tutors must be in the U.S. while actively tutoring. NOTE: Tutors may not actively tutor a course for which they are a current TA (in the same semester).
