Northeastern Peer Tutoring is committed to offering free peer tutoring to aid Northeastern undergraduate students’ academic success through the support of their Northeastern peers. We support all eligible undergraduate students across the Northeastern global network who are enrolled in our listed supported courses on Knack each semester. See below for the list of supported courses on Knack for Fall 2025.

On Knack, eligible students have the opportunity to:

  • Schedule peer-to-peer tutoring sessions on the Knack platform either as an one-on-one or small group in-person or online , for up to 90 minutes per course per week (Sunday-Saturday)
  • Use up to 30 hours maximum of free peer tutoring during each academic semester, and up to 15 hours of peer tutoring during each summer session

Peer-to-peer tutoring on the Knack platform is an additional resource for students and should be treated as such. Tutors should encourage their tutees to explore all available academic resources across the Northeastern global network. Please review our page on Other Tutoring Services at Northeastern.

However, we have classified this part-time position as an on-campus job in order for our Northeastern international undergraduate students to take advantage of this student employment opportunity. Peer Tutors can work up to 15 hours per week maximum (Sunday to Saturday) on the Knack platform. Northeastern Student Employment is notified of the Peer Tutors working on the Knack platform and number of weekly hours worked to maintain compliance of 20-hour per week student employee maximum. See this article from Knack on what it means to be a 1099 Independent Contractor.

Qualified current Northeastern undergraduate students interested in applying to become Northeastern peer tutors on the Knack platform as well as returning peer tutors need to review the Northeastern Peer Tutoring processes outlined in this website under “Become a Tutor” in the Application and Hiring Process before applying on the Knack platform at northeastern.joinknack.com.
