I have been tutoring on Knack since January 2024.
What is your CRLA Tutor Certification Level (if CRLA certified)?
I am not CRL certified yet, but I’m working toward it!
How have you represented Northeastern Peer Tutoring on Knack?
I represent Northeastern Peer Tutoring by discussing topics from a place of understanding the content. I’m also patient if topics don’t click if tutees haven’t been exposed to topics like before. I create analogies, draw visuals, and relate to their prior knowledge to help create those “ah-ha!” moments while tutoring. We work through examples together and facilitate their learning to eventually encourage people to work through problems on their own.
How has your experience as a Northeastern Peer Tutor impacted you?
Being able to help other people has always been fulfilling for me. While talking to different people and getting different perspectives, I’ve been able to further understand the content from these courses in different ways. Learning these topics from tutoring has given me a new appreciation for these courses and new insights into how to keep helping people in the future!
