The PTP Leadership team wants to share the following news with our PTP tutors regarding Fall 2021:

WELCOME BACK: The PTP leadership team is looking forward to welcoming you back to campus and to our program in the Fall 2021 semester! Those of you who were working with us during the Covid-19 year understand the challenges we all had to overcome to deliver excellent tutoring services to our students.

JOB WELL DONE: Supporting one another and providing constant feedback have led to opportunities to grow the program and increase its positive impact among the students we serve. It has also made you more resilient and innovative. We can all take the lessons learned and put them to practice, especially those that make the process of being a PTP peer tutor easier and elevate the user’s experience.

IN PERSON AND ONLINE TUTORING: During the last year we collectively have proven that PTP can be successful running all its operations remotely. As a result, PTP will offer its services both in-person and online starting in the Fall 2021 semester. However, the NUin tutoring services will be offered online ONLY.

LOSS OF PHYSICAL SPACE: Unfortunately, PTP had to give up its Center in 1 Meserve to allow for more student spaces to be shared amongst the largest incoming NU Freshman class ever. The PTP leadership will be working on a Hybrid model while hoteling in 2 offices in Stearns Hall. In the absence of a PTP physical space, all the PTP peer tutors will need to schedule space for all the in-person tutoring sessions and email their tutees to let them know in advance. The University is launching a central scheduling system called ROBIN to meet both students’ and staff members’ space needs on August 26, 2021.

HIRING A NEW ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: We are looking for your patience, cooperation, and support during this time so we can navigate all these changes successfully TOGETHER, especially since PTP is short staffed due to Maggie’s departure to WeCare. Maggie is still helping us out during this transition, and we are grateful to her, and wish her well in her new position! Nicole who is back from maternity leave and I are actively interviewing, and we are hoping to fill this position by sometime in September of 2021. We have lined up some dynamic candidates who will bring an innovative perspective to PTP moving forward.

NEED YOUR HELP: The PTP leadership team will need your help and understanding more than ever during this time. We will need you to respond quickly and decisively to our requests especially as it relates to your tutoring availability. Against all odds, PTP’s 1st DAY OF TUTORING for Fall 2021 will be Monday September 13th.  We are currently interviewing, and we are in the process of training new peer tutors to fill in the gaps we currently have. The gaps we have are in courses offered in the Business School, CS, ECON, ENVR science, and Data Science courses. Please reach out to your past tutees, classmates, and friends who are majors in any of these disciplines and ask them to fill out an application via the PTP website at https://undergraduate.northeastern.edu/peer-tutoring/become-a-peer-tutor/

WORKING TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

PTP HAS A POSITIVE IMPACT TO ALL THE STUDENTS SERVED!

PTP HAS A PROVEN RECORD OF SUCCESS!

PTP IS PURPOSE DRIVEN!

The PTP leadership team is looking forward to working with all of you to do what we do BEST!

Thanks

Tina and Nicole
