How have you represented PTP? “The first day I started tutoring, I decided that I needed to be the best tutor I could be. I realized that teaching is a huge responsibility, but I also knew that the job comes with the great satisfaction of seeing students succeed. I made sure that I was confident in the material should any questions arise during the session, highlighting my responsibility to each of my students. Once test scores came, I celebrated with them because I knew how far they had come along. Not only seeing their success, but their “I did it!” faces is my greatest reward. This motto motivated me to become an effective tutor and represent everything PTP has to offer: a tutoring service that creates an environment where the student feels safe and comfortable enough to ask for help. I strongly believe that a great teacher is able to make a difference on a student’s learning experience, especially by raising that student’s confidence by teaching them not only the course itself, but also by showing them of what they’re capable, an ideal I presented in each of my sessions. I strive to teach as best as I could, explaining things however many times the student needed and coming up with different ways to explain it so they could grasp the concept better. I effectively created a positive environment all around, where my highest priority was for the student to realize that asking for help is not a sign of weakness or one that makes him or her any less of a successful student.”
How has PTP impacted you? “PTP has impacted me in many ways, but I have to say the biggest one of them all is the opportunity it gave me to touch a student’s life and help them along the way. When I applied for the job, I thought I wasn’t going to learn or get anything out of it. However, as the year went by and I started seeing just how much a student’s life I changed, I started to see how PTP allowed me to fulfill one of my life’s greatest goals: to help as many people as I can by giving them a hand when they’ve fallen down.”
